Other eBook Formats
Microsoft Word
Reader Software
Our Thoughts
Microsoft Word is a popular format. People are
familiar with Microsoft Word. They've used it frequently and already have the
software, so there's nothing new to download. Customers can change the font size
just like any other Word document, and print the eBook. However, most publishers
do not publish their eBooks in Microsoft Word format because it's not secure.
Where To Buy
Gemstar/Rocket eBook
Reader Software
- Software is included with your eBook device.
Our Thoughts
Gemstar and Rocket eBook devices are no longer
being sold. But, there are many customers that still have the devices and would
like to find eBooks for them. Publishers of eBooks generally won't be publishing
any new content for the devices since they've been discontinued, but you can
still find eBooks at the stores below.
Where To Buy
HTML
Reader Software
Our Thoughts
True HTML eBooks can be viewed in your browser.
They can be printed.
There are also many, many eBooks in .exe format that are compiled with HTML
pages. Those eBooks don't need extra software, as they are a program all on
their own. But, they are not supported by any large companies, so they aren't
carried by many large eBook retailers, and there is minimal support for them.
Where To Buy
Text
Reader Software
- Any text editor or word processing program.
Our Thoughts
These regular plain text files are the most
simple eBooks you can read. They aren't really even "eBooks" - they're just the
text of a book in .txt format. They have the same appeal as Microsoft Word, with
the ability to edit the text, and to print it. And again, publishers generally
do not publish their eBooks in this format because it's not secure.
