Overview

The Mobipocket Reader Format is your Universal eBook Reader for all PDAs and brings you a wide range of eReading technologies to choose from – Palm Series (PalmOS v2.0 and onwards), Windows CE, Pocket PC, Psion (Epoch 32) and Franklin eBookMan. Backed by powerful eReading features, it brings a completeness and versatility to your reading experience that is quite unmatched.

Update: Mobipocket was purchased by Amazon in 2005. They used the software in the creation of their Kindle eBook software, and then later discontinued the original Mobipocket website and eBook system. Mobipocket.com ceased sale of eBooks on January 2, 2012.

Security Requirements

If you're planning on buying a secure Mobipocket eBook, this is what you'll need:

  • Mobipocket Reader installed on your PDA
  • Find your PID - The PID is located in the "About" Box under the "Help" menu of your MobiPocket reader software in your PDA device (or PC computer). You'll need to input this PID number before you download your eBook.

Be prepared for:

  • Your eBook store should have a place for you to type in your PID number before you download your eBook.
  • Make sure this is the correct PID for the device you're planning on reading the eBook on.
  • If you're not asked for a PID, you may be asked for a username and password instead. This should be the same username and password for your main account at the store where you purchased your eBook.

  • Alter the font size, type or color to meet your convenience and style.
  • Create a personalized reading ambience by choosing your favorite background color.
  • Use the progression bar at the bottom of the screen to check your current position in your eBook.
  • Switch to a full-screen mode when you want to devote your screen real estate to pure reading text.
  • Full text search ability helps you locate any word/text in your eBook instantly.
  • When you close your eBook, you will be automatically returned to the last page read.
